Paul was featured this month in Brazil's Veja magazine, which with over 1 million subscribers is the largest circulation magazine in South America. The article includes a nice photo of Paul in the archway near Memorial Church on the Stanford campus.

Paul has been selected as the 2017 of the prize in Innovative Quantitative Applications awarded jointly by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Mathematic Sciences Research Institute. The award ceremony will take place on Feb 12, 2018, at the Merc in Chicago. According to the awarding organizations, "The CME Group-MSRI Prize is awarded to an individual or a group to recognize originality and innovation in the use of mathematical, statistical or computational methods for the study of the behavior of markets, and more broadly of economics."
Paul has been awared the 2016-17 Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching in the area of Excellence in Graduate Education. A key factor in this award is the success of Paul's graduate students, several of whom wrote letters to support this award.
