The US Incentive Auctions: Public Lecture at CERGE-EI

Paul has given a public lecture about the US Incentive Auctions at CERGE-EI in Prague, which can be seen here on the Internet. Cerge is a joint workplace of Charles University in Prague & The Economics Institute of The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

In addition, CERGE has posted a video interview with Paul about his work and how he began his research in economics.

Nomura Lecture Focuses on US Spectrum Reallocation

Paul Milgrom today delivered the annual Nomura lecture at the Mathematics Institute at Oxford University in the UK. The annual lecture highlights applications of mathematics in a variety of different fields. This year’s lecture, entitled “Strategy-Proof Auctions for Complex Resource Allocations,” was delivered to a large audience of mathematicians and others in the Martin Wood theatre in Oxford.

Paul delivers the Arrow Lecture at Columbia University

On November 18, 2014, Paul Milgrom delivered the Arrow Lecture at Columbia University in honor of Columbia’s most famous graduate: Kenneth Arrow. A book series in Arrow’s honor was also launched, with books written by some of the greatest economic theorists of the modern era. All in the room acknowledged their intellectual debts to Kenneth Arrow, whose foundational contributions to social choice theory, general equilibrium theory, health economics, and the economics of innovation, to name just a few, have forever changed the form of economic analysis.

Mention in Economist Magazine

Paul’s work as a bidding adviser is given a nice mention in the September 3, 2011 issue of The Economist magazine. According to the article,

“In the run-up to an online auction in 2006 of radio-spectrum licences by America’s Federal Communications Commission, Paul Milgrom, a consultant and Stanford University professor, customised his game-theory software to assist a consortium of bidders. The result was a triumph.
